Chris Taylor – Area Director, SOIS

Chris Taylor is currently the CCSDS area director of the Spacecraft Onboard Interfaces Area.

Mr. Taylor was previously a member of the CCSDS panel 1F, was the ESA lead for the development of the CCSDS advanced orbiting Systems and the originator of the CFDP recommendation. Currently Mr. Taylor heads a Section within the onboard data division at Estec, responsible for onboard communications standards, data handling architectures and accompanying test-beds. He is the convener for the ECSS E-50 series of communication standards. During more that 30 years at ESA he has developed standard spacecraft checkout equipment, science processing software and a variety of standards for use in flight and ground systems. More recently he worked with the ESA Columbus programme where he was responsible for developing the Standard PayLoad Computer used by all ESA payloads destined to fly on the ISS.
