Stuart Fowell – Deputy Area Director, SOIS

Stuart Fowell is currently the CCSDS deputy area director of the Spacecraft Onboard Interfaces Area, , as well as chair of the SOIS Application Support Services (ASS) Working Group. Mr. Fowell was previously a member of CCSDS Panel 1K.

Mr. Fowell is a UK based employee of the Space Division of SciSys UK Ltd, a leading developer of Spacecraft Onboard Software in Europe, and represents BNSC in the CCSDS SOIS Area. He has both lead and participated in a number of ground and spacecraft software R&D projects for BNSC (inc. STRV, RATE, RATE-II), ESA (inc. RAMA, A3SysDef, DisCo, MARC) and the European Commission (ASSERT). His primary areas of expertise are in real-time, distributed, fault-tolerant and embedded software frameworks, including the development and use of middleware and component-oriented software. This has been recently focussed on onboard software frameworks using SpaceWire and SOIS Services, distributed PUS packets.
