Peter M. Allan
Dr. Allan is the BNSC's principal Member Agency Representative to the CCSDS and also serves as the head of the Space Data Division at the CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
Dr. Allan obtained his PhD in Astrophysics from the University
of Manchester in 1980 and spent the next four years doing
research in astronomy in the Netherlands and the USA, before
returning to Manchester to run the Starlink computer system. In
1990, Dr. Allan moved to the Starlink head office at the
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), and since has developed
data systems for both astronomy and Earth observation. Most
recently, Dr. Allan was named the Deputy Director of the Space
Science and Technology Department at RAL. |
