Spring Meetings 2006
Area & WG Meeting Site Information
All CCSDS meetings will be held in a facility owned by the Italian Ministry for Internal Affairs located at the following address: Istituto Superiore Antincendi (I.S.A.) Via del Commercio 13, Roma 00154 (Italy) The facility is about a 10-15 minute walk from a Metro station. Alternately, you can take a bus for several blocks and have a 5-minute walk. The strategy is that you can stay anywhere you like in Rome with easy access to a Metro, and have only a short walk to the site after you exit the metro. Of course if you stay somewhere not near a metro, you may have to use the trolley bus to get to the metro, or look into taxi cabs or other alternatives. If you have a metro ticket, trolley busses to the metro, and between the metro and the facility are free.
There are five buildings next to each other on this “campus” like area. You go through an entrance building (guard, check-in area, etc.) and pass through that building to the area with the other buildings. The buildings with the meeting rooms are buildings A, B, C, D and F. A is connected to B by a huge (and very interesting) atrium. Ditto for C and D.
To the south of these buildings are some very large wire-frame structures that were once used for natural gas (methane) storage or processing. Very distinctive landmarks to help find the place.
The meeting rooms were all of various sizes, and various configurations. Some were already set up as meeting rooms, and some were set up as training rooms (with computers) or with luncheon tables, depending on the function. \ The hallway in Bldg F, and the back of one of the meeting rooms (note projector in ceiling):
This next room is one of the larger conference rooms in Bldg F, but not one that is currently planned for our use.
This is the atrium between buildings A and B. The atrium is filled with large crane structures from the days when this area was part of the port authority (or some similar function).
On the first floor in Bldg A is a cafeteria….
And a Coffee Stand / Snack Bar area….
Some of the meeting rooms in Bldg A were set up for a meal function. You can see the partition walls in this area. For CCSDS meetings, the partitions would be closed to divide the rooms into smaller group rooms, and the furniture would be reconfigured to meeting room tables and chairs.
There is a nice outside patio area between bldgs B and C, with a covered walkway between them.
In bldgs C and D, these are the hallways outside of the meeting rooms…
And in C and D, these are typical meeting rooms. One is currently set up for computer-based training, but they will be reconfigured for typical meeting rooms.
This is the “greenspace” area outside of Bldgs C/D, looking towards Bldg F:
Going back to the entrance, this is the building you enter into:
Then you check in with the guard at the little window, and go through the turnstiles.
