REGISTRATION FOR THE 2008 CCSDS SPRING WORKING
GROUP MEETINGS IS NOW CLOSED.
If you have a strong need to attend, and will make a
contribution that is valuable to CCSDS, then we can
make exceptions in some cases. Send a message to the
Secretariat (secretariat@mailman.ccsds.org), with a
statement to justify the exception, and we will
coordinate with the WG chair of the area that would
benefit from your attendance. If the WG chair
supports your justification, the Secretariat will
register you for the meeting directly. The
Secretariat will let you know one way or another
what the WG chair determination is.
Meeting registration will open at 7am on Monday
morning. Please note that all attendees must go to
registration to receive their name badge; only
attendees with a CCSDS name badge will be permitted
into the meeting rooms.
Overview
Hosted by NASA , in association with the OMG the CCSDS Spring 2008 meeting
series will be held in Crystal City, VA, adjacent to
the downtown area of Washington, DC, from 10th March –
14th March 2008. Attendees wishing to also
participate in any of the OMG meetings events should
also register here:

Meeting Location
Make sure you come
to the
Crystal City Courtyard by Marriott.
There are also
Other Marriott's in Crystal City that are not the
Courtyard, and other Courtyards in Arlington that
are not the Crystal City Courtyard.
The Marriott Courtyard Arlington Crystal
City/Reagan National Airport hotel will be the
primary meeting location, with overflow rooms at the
Hyatt Regency Crystal City hotel (located next door
to the Marriott). Meeting rooms will have wireless
internet access available and NASA will provide
morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Participant
will be responsible for their own lunches and there
are many nearby restaurants to choose from.
A
listing of these local restaurants has been provided
by the hotel and is attached below.
Local Restaurants

Participants will be responsible for their own
hotel reservations and are strongly encouraged to
stay at the Marriott. The room rate at the Marriott
is $199 USD per night plus applicable state and
local taxes (currently 10.25%) and includes free
wireless internet service to guests in the
overnight rooms and public spaces. Overflow rooms

Hotel Transportation
The Marriott hotels have
several free shuttles that take passengers between
the Reagan National Airport (DCA) and the hotel. It
picks up passengers at Terminal A or at Terminal B
(for Terminal B go to doors 5 or 9 at the baggage
claim area). Make sure you get on the correct
Shuttle for the Crystal City Courtyard by Marriott.
The van you are looking for is the Red and White van
that says “Residence Inn, Crystal City Marriott,
Crystal Gateway”. We recommend that when you get on,
you check that it is going to the Crystal City
Courtyard Marriott. It runs every 15 minutes but
only from 6am to 11pm.
You can also take the Metro
from the airport to the Crystal City Station, but
the walk from the Crystal City Station to the hotel
is about 9 blocks, about 15 minutes. There is a free
shuttle from the Metro station entrance, but is
available only on request. A Google Map for the
hotels and metro is available by
clicking here.
SM&C and XTCE User Workshops
The OMG and CCSDS are holding a joint meeting at
the OMG conference in Washington DC March 10-14. On
March 12 2008, the CCSDS Spacecraft Monitoring &
Control (SM&C) group will host the 1st SM&C Users
Workshop. On March 13 2008, the CCSDS Spacecraft
Monitoring & Control group and the OMG Space Domain
Task Force will host the 2nd XTCE Users Workshop.
The SM&C Users Workshop will consist of
presentations, demos and a questions & answer
session on SM&C. As you may know, the SM&C
initiative aims at defining a service oriented
architecture framework where an expandable set of
M&C services could seamlessly plug-in. The purpose
of the meeting is to bring together the SM&C user
community and to share experiences and ideas.
The XTCE Users Workshop will consist of
presentations, demos and a questions & answer
session on XTCE modeled after the successful 1st
XTCE Users Workshop held in Germany in October of
2007. The purpose of the meeting is to bring
together the XTCE user community and to share
experiences and possibly tools.
Invitation to 1st SMC Users
Workshop
Invitation to 2nd XTCE Users
Workshop
We will continue to post additional meeting
information as it becomes available, as well as
information about dining and other attractions in
the area.
