How to Setup a CESG Poll

To create a Poll follow the steps below:

NOTE - Do not close a browser window unless prompted too.


STEP A) Create the Poll - CLICK HERE TO START - NOTE - A new browser window will open, and you may be prompted to login.

1 - Name: Place a short title of your poll here.  Include no spaces.  Typically the control number goes here.
2 - Description: Leave this Blank
3 - Quick Launch Bar: Select "No"
4 - Click the "Create" button - NOTE - Do not close the browser window.


STEP B) Rename the Poll

1 - Click on the button labeled "Modify settings and columns"

2 - Click "Change general settings"

3 - Rename "Name:" to the long appropriate title for the poll
4 - Click "Ok" - NOTE - Do not close the browser window.


STEP C) Edit Permissions

1 - Click "Change Permissions for this list"

2 - Check the checkbox labeled "Reader"
3 - Click the text labeled "Removed Selected Users"
4 - Click the text labeled "Change anonymous access"

5 - Uncheck or ensure that all checkboxes are not checked for "Add Items", "Edit Items", or "View Item"
6 - Click "Ok" - NOTE - Do not close the browser window.


STEP D) Edit Question

1- Click the text labeled "Go Back to List"

2 - Click the text labeled "Modify settings and columns"

3 - Click the text labeled "Question"

4 - In the "Description: " Column remove the text "The CESG, BLAH BLAH BLAH" and replace it with the result ion or action text for the poll.
5 - Click the "OK" button - NOTE - Do not close the browser window.


STEP E) Edit Attachments - CLICK HERE TO START - NOTE - A new browser window will open.  This step will need to be repeated for each attachment.  Also if your files already reside elsewhere on the CWE, and you wish not to upload them to the attachments area, then you may skip steps 1-4, and simply go to step 5 below.

1 - Click the "Browse" button and browse to the desired attachment on your PC.
2 - Click "Save and Close"

3 - With your mouse Right Click on the Document Name you just uploaded
4 - Select "Copy Shortcut"  NOTE - You may close this particular browser window if you are done with attachments.

5 - Switch to the old browser window that you left open above.  Your browser page should be at the "Modify settings and columns" page for the poll.  Click on the text labeled "Attachment(s)".

6 - Under "Description" highlight all of the text, or delete all of the text.  Leave your cursor in the "Description" field.
7 - Right Click your mouse and Select "Paste" this will paste the URL of your attachment into the field.
8 - Click the "OK" button. - NOTE - Do not close the browser window.


STEP F) Deploy the Poll

1 - Now switch back to the other open browser and click on the Name of the poll.  In this example the name of the poll is "test"

2 - With your mouse right click the text labeled "New Item" and select the "Copy Shortcut" link
 

3 - CLICK HERE - NOTE - A new browser window will open.  Paste the shortcut you just copied by placing your cursor (AND HIGHLIGHTING) the text that is labled "http" and selecting "Paste".
4 - Type the text "Click here to Vote" in the field below.

5 - Switch back to your other open browser window, and with your mouse right click the text labeled "All Responses" and select the "Copy Shortcut" link.

6 - Switch back to the other browser window, and paste the shortcut you just copied by placing your cursor (AND HIGHLIGHTING) the text that is labled "http" and selecting "Paste".
7 - Type the text "Click here for Results" in the field below.
8 - "Title:" Type the long appropriate title/name for the poll.
9 - "Opens" Type or browse to the date for which the poll opens.
10 - "Closes" Type or browse to the date for which the poll closes.
11 - Click "Save and Close" - NOTE - You may now close all of your open browser windows.  Except for this document or webpage.


STEP G) Validate the Poll/Check for Errors

1 - CLICK HERE - NOTE - A new browser window will open. Validate that your poll is in the "Open Polls" section.
2 - Validate that the "Click Here to Vote" link is working.
3 - Validate that the "Click Here for Results" link is working.

If any of 1-3 is not working, or you need to change data on the page below than CLICK HERE and edit your Poll Entry.
If the poll itself has issues than CLICK HERE to edit your poll.
