Wallace Tai – CESG Deputy Chair
Mr. Wallace Tai is the Deputy Chair of the CCSDS Engineering Steering Group (CESG)
Mr. Wallace Tai is the Chief Engineer of the Interplanetary Network Directorate at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory of
Caltech. In his role as Chief Engineer, Mr. Wallace Tai is responsible for NASA's multi-mission systems, the Deep Space Network (DSN) and the Advanced
Multi-Mission Operations System (AMMOS). Before joining JPL, Mr. Tai worked for a number of private companies supporting commercial industry. His prior
experiences include positions at the System Development Corporation R&D Department, National Cashier Register (NCR), Data Architects Inc., and Lexitron
of Raytheon Data Systems, working in various areas of software engineering.
Since joining JPL, Mr. Tai has held several management positions in line and program organizations. His technical
experience spans both implementation and systems engineering in the DSN, and for deep space missions such as the Mars Pathfinder and Cassini missions,
along with a number of projects in their formulation stages
At NASA/JPL, Mr. Wallace Tai has been an advocate for the infusion of various CCSDS standards into the DSN, AMMOS, and
as a part of the flight hardware for multiple deep space missions. Mr. Wallace Tai has served in his current capacity as the Co-Chair for the CCSDS
Engineering Steering Group (CESG) since 2013.
Mr. Wallace Tai holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Chung Yuan University in Taiwan and an M.S. degree in Computer Science
from Loyola-Marymount University.
