Spring Meetings 2018 Information Overview

Overview:
Hosted by NASA, the CCSDS Spring 2018 meeting series will be held in Gaithersburg, Maryland - USA at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The main technical meeting series will be held 9 April - 13 April 2018 and will be followed by the CESG Meeting, which will be held on 16 April 2018. As always, Dress for the Technical Plenary meeting is Business Casual.

The visitor Center, located at Gate A, and Building 101 are the only areas at NIST accessible to visitors. Please display your visitor badge at all time while you are on the NIST campus.

Meeting Registration:
Meeting Registration is now closed.

The Mission Planning and Scheduling (MP&S) working group will be meeting at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg at the scheduled times noted in the Agenda. The location of the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg is 2 Montgomery Village Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. The meeting will be held in the Potomac conference room at the Holiday Inn and will be posted as NIST-NASA Group Meeting.”
Registering as a Guest with NIST:
Please do not register with NIST until after you have registered on the CWE. All meeting attendees, IOAG MOSSG, Technical Plenary, and CESG, who are not US citizens, will need to register with NIST on the NIST Conference Registration Website after completing registration on the CWE. Please Click Here to register with NIST. All non-US citizens must register with NIST no later than 30 March 2018. This registration system takes the place of the NIST 1260 forms previously posted here. If you already submitted a NIST 1260, please still complete registration above. After you submit your information, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not submit your information on NIST's Conference Registration Website, you will not be allowed on campus and will be unable to take part in the meetings.

After you submit your information, you will receive a confirmation email.” Stating the following: “Please note, not all registrants have been receiving confirmation emails from NIST. Though the Secretariat does not maintain the NIST confirmation system, it does have a list of individuals whom have registered for the CCSDS meetings via the CWE and those whom have successfully registered with NIST. Individuals that have registered with CCSDS but not with NIST will be contacted by the Secretariat on an individual basis to complete their registration with NIST. If you are unsure of your NIST registration status, please contact Mr. Michael Blackwood for more information.

In the week prior to the meetings, all attendees will receive a "Dash Pass". Please print this pass and bring it with you to the meetings. Whether you are arriving by personal vehicle or bus/taxi, the Dash Pass along with an accepted form of photo identification, valid passports (original only) accepted, will allow attendees to enter the NIST campus without stopping at the Visitor Center.

For attendees arriving by taxi or bus, you will arrive at the Visitor Center where you will present your Dash Pass and identification. You will be directed to Building 101 by the staff at the gate. Building 101 is a 0.8 km walk from the Visitor Center so please dress according to the weather.

Meeting attendees who plan to arrive by personal vehicle should plan to enter the NIST campus by Gate F on East Drive. Present your Dash Pass and identification and you will be directed to Building 101. Parking is free and visitors may park in any space not marked or reserved. Please hang your Parking Pass of Dash Pass on your vehicle's rear view mirror or place it on your vehicle's dashboard where it will be visible from the vehicle's exterior.

Directions and Transportation:
NIST is accessible by either Dulles International Airport (IAD) or Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Dulles International Airport (IAD):
- NIST is 40 minutes' drive from IAD;
- Taxi fare from IAD is approximately $70.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI):
- NIST is 45 minutes' drive from BWI;
- Taxi fare from BWI is approximately $90.

For attendees staying in Washington, D.C., Gaithersburg is accessible by Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) trains at the Shady Grove Metro Station, the final stop on Metro's Red Line. NIST provides a shuttle for visitors to and from the Shady Grove Metro Station. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 06:45 to 18:10.

Visitors using Metro can meet the NIST shuttle at the east side of the Shady Grove Metro Station at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. The NIST shuttle will stop at "Bus Bay C." The last NIST shuttle leaves Shady Grove Metro at 18:10.

The shuttle departs from the front of the NIST Administration Building at 5 and 35 minutes past the hour. The last NIST shuttle leaves NIST at 18:00.

The ride between NIST and the Shady Grove Metro Station takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The nightly rate is $125 and includes a full breakfast.

Technical Editors Bootcamp:
The CCSDS Secretariat will be holding a training bootcamp in CCSDS document-development procedures, which is required for all CCSDS technical editors and recommended for WG chairs. Other WG participants are welcome to attend as space permits. Please see the registration form for dates and times.
