The Management Council of the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) has authorized the publication, and requests Agency review, of the following document:

The Recommended Standard for Lossless Data Compression defines a source-coding data-compression algorithm and specifies how data compressed using the algorithm are inserted into source packets for retrieval and decoding. The current draft update addresses potential ambiguities and adds an option for a file header.
